SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Unauthorised Advertising of Vehicles on Public Roads

South Dublin County Council wishes to advise that it is an offence under Section 71 Roads Act 1993 to place or retain a vehicle for the purposes of advertising, sale of goods, provision of services or other similar purpose on a public road without the authorisation of the Roads Authority.

This includes placing vehicles with For Sale signs on public roads, footpaths or hard shoulders.

The owners of any such unauthorised vehicles will instructed to remove the vehicle with immediate effect. Failure to do so will result in the Council arranging for removal of the vehicle without further notice. Removal and storage costs will be recouped by the Council and these are likely to be substantial.
