COLAISTE BRIDE RAISES ITS GREEN FLAG FOR ENERGY

Colaiste Bride Girls Secondary School in Clondalkin raised its second Green Flag for Energy on Wednesday 21st November 2007. Mayor of South Dublin County Billy Gogarty attended the flag raising ceremony and he congratulated the staff and students at Colaiste Bride saying As a result of your hard work Colaiste Bride is a clean and environmentally sustainable place. The rest of the community can really learn from you. So keep up the good work and keep the Green Flag flying!
To achieve the Green Flag for Energy the staff and students at Colaiste Bride have become more conscious of the schools energy consumption and reduced it while continuing the Waste and Litter theme of their first Green Flag.
Colaiste Bride has a large Green Schools Committee comprised of 37 students with 5 Environmental Prefects. The Green School Programme was coordinated by Eimear De Burca, Frances Madders and Michelle Abbott with great support from their Principal Marie Therese Kilmartin and Vice Principal Steve McEntaggart.
Green Schools is an International Environmental Education Programme that promotes and acknowledges whole school, long-term action for the environment. At present over 2,700 Irish schools are participating in the programme and over 1116 have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award. There are currently over 14,500 schools in 37 countries taking part in the Programme internationally.
