Draft Press Release
M50 Upgrade Scheme.
Revised M50/N4 Interchange Traffic Layout
Effective 18th October 2007.
From Wednesday night 17th October the existing southbound Off-Ramp for N4 West and N4 East (City) traffic will be closed and the following changes will come into effect at M50/N4 Interchange:
· Traffic travelling on the M50 Southbound to N4 Westbound and M50 Southbound to N4 Eastbound will be directed to a new temporary Free-flow southbound Off-Ramp, just south of the existing southbound Off-Ramp .
· M50 southbound to N4 westbound traffic will no longer have to go through traffic signals at the N4 Interchange.
· M50 southbound to N4 Citybound traffic will have to detour to Liffey Valley Junction and U-turn back to the City until the new permanent Off-Ramp is opened in approx 6 weeks
· Traffic signals at the N4 Interchange for Citybound traffic will be eliminated from 18th Oct, giving motorists a free-flow movement.
Traffic travelling on the N4 Outbound to M50 Northbound
· Should use the left lane of the N4 outbound.
· Signage will direct this traffic on to the new permanent Free-flow
· This brings to an end the current detour to Liffey Valley Junction for this movement.
“Please slow down and exercise care when using the revised layout”, advises Edward Edge, South Dublin County Council. “The new N4 Free-flow Interchange will be substantially completed by the end of 2007 and the 8km stretch of motorway between the N4, N7 and Ballymount Interchanges will be completed in early 2008.”
