This state of the art community centre for senior citizens now known as THE OASIS is an integral part of a development, which comprises new and refurbished units in a mix of one and two bed dwellings. This complex complete with caretaker is now home to approximately 70 senior citizens, who meet in the new multi-functional centre on a regular basis for a chat, cup of tea, meet old friends, make new ones, play a game of cards, watch television or read a book and in addition they can avail of a host of social, cultural and educational activities. For example:
Dinners provided Monday to Friday
Bingo and Housing Welfare Clinic every Wednesday
Slips, Trips and Falls sessions every Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (advice on hazards in the home)
Friday is Hairdresser day for ladies and gents
Mobile Library calls on a Monthly basis.
The recently appointed Manager has lots of plans for other functions/outings in the coming months
This complex is within walking distance of local services including church and shops. The provision and operation of the centre is a joint venture between South Dublin County Council and the Health Services Executive and is a first of its kind for South Dublin County Council.
Senior citizens in the vicinity are welcome to participate in the activities of the centre.
