Archbishop Ryan Junior and Senior Schools, Lucan, Co. Dublin are holding their annual Intercultural Week from the 26th March - 30th March 2007. A number of exciting events are planned to celebrate the schools' Irish and International cultures.
Muscial entertainment will be provided from the Concert Band of An Garda Sochna. An African-Irish fusion band will also be holding a concert in the school. The GAA will be on hand to help students master their gaelic and hurling skills. Children will be invited to dress in national costumes. Our food fare promises to be a treat with culinary delights from around the world. Storyteller Niall de Burca will be entertaining children with stories from around the globe. Artist Peadar Lambe will be working throughout the week on a joint schools visual arts project based on the Salmon of Knowledge legend, which will then be performed for the school at the end of the week. The cinemobile will be visiting the school, showcasing Irish talent on film. The children will be treated to a performance of Latin American dancing. A flag ceremony, drama workshops, puppet shows, dance competitions and a disco are also among the list of activities planned with involvement from children, teachers and parents. Local community groups will be visiting the school midweek for our community coffee morning. The week promises to be a colourful and active experience for all involved. All the events organised were made possible thanks to funding from the South Dublin County Council Social Inclusion Unit and from Clondalkin Partnership.
