On Thursday 1st March 2007, at the Sports Recreation Community and Parks Strategic Policy Committee Meeting the Mayor Eamonn Maloney, will formally launch the partnership arrangement between South Dublin County and the Football Association of Ireland to fund the appointment of 3 Football in the Community Development Officers to operate in the specific areas of Tallaght, Clondalkin and Lucan.
This partnership project will Endeavour to achieve the following:
Deliver active soccer development to key target communities in Tallaght,
Clondalkin and Lucan;
Engage young people in structured sports activities, particularly in
marginalized communities;
Actively develop volunteerism among local adults by involving them in
the structured coaching and organizing of games and tournaments;
Make maximum use of local playing fields and facilities;
Provide a structured programme of activities for disadvantaged youth in
their immediate communities, especially those at risk of anti-social
behavior
Put in place structures to increase participation by females, people from
ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.
With an initial contract period of three years, reporting to the FAI Technical Director and South Dublin County Councils Director of Community Services, the Development Officers will have responsibility for the implementation of current and future development programmes of the FAI Technical Department and South Dublin County Council including programmes around the following:

√ Player Development
√ Grassroots Development
√ Facility Development
√ Strategic Development
√ Promotion of the game
