Electoral (Amendment) Act, 2006

Postal Votes for Prisoners

Under the provisions of the Electoral

(Amendment) Act, 2006 any eligible voter who

is detained in a prison pursuant to an order of a

court may now apply for a postal vote.

A prisoner who is already registered as an

elector may apply for a postal vote by

completing Form RFG.

A prisoner who is not registered as an elector

may apply for a postal vote by completing

Forms RFG and RFA4.

The relevant forms are available in all prisons

and are also available from the Councils

website www.southdublin.ie, Council offices,

Garda Stations, Post Offices, and Libraries.

Closing date for receipt of completed

application forms is Wednesday, 14th February

2007.
