Press Release
St. Marys Girls National School, Lucan, and Scoil Aine, Clondalkin, scoop the South Dublin County Childrens Book Festival Poster Competition 2006.
Childrens Book Festival is an annual national event that has been celebrated
in schools and public libraries every autumn for the past several years. It is
the biggest free-of-charge childrens festival in Ireland. The winning entry of
South Dublin County Childrens Book Festival Poster Competition 2006 will be
on display on the interior advertising space in South Dublin County bus routes
from 15th to 29th January.
The winner of the competition is Simone Kilduff of St. Marys Girls National School, Lucan, Co. Dublin. Her entry was chosen from several hundred others sent in from primary schools all over the catchments area. Her school had two other winners in the competition, class mates Kelly McNamara and Beata Carroll, all from Mrs. Prices 6th class. Scoil Aine in Clondalkin had 2 runners up, so well done to them also.
Mayor Eamonn Moloney will present Simone with her prize, kindly sponsored by Leisureplex, at a special ceremony in Conyngham Road Bus Depot on Wednesday 24th January at 10.30 am followed by a prize giving at Scoil Aine, Clondalkin at 11.30am. Scoil Aine have been consistent winners of the competition over the years. Indeed this year 3 pupils from the school won prizes, Maria OKeeffe and Ciara Gissane from Miss Kilbrides class and Aine Heffernan from Miss McGinleys class. As this is the first year that the winning entry has been advertised in this way we hope that news of this super competition will spread even more county-wide.
