“Windows for the Sun” Exhibition launched by Mayor
Dr. Michael Brennan and “Windows for the Sun” Exhibition
On Monday night, 11th December 2006, Mayor Eamonn Maloney of South Dublin County launched the exhibition “Windows for the Sun” which runs at the County Library in Tallaght until 21st December.
Born in Dublin, Dr. Michael Brennan BSc, MS, MBA, PhD was highly qualified in food science and management with a PhD from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
In later life he developed an interest in and carried out extensive research into our megalithic heritage at Brú na Bóinne and at other sites.
He also worked at counselling and therapy and in the area of the spiritual dimension of human life.
His interest in food found expression in his participation in the Food Cooperative in Pearse Street.
Michael died in 2005 and some of his wide circle of friends have come together to honour him by assembling this “Windows for the Sun” Exhibition which draws on his extensive research materials, photographs and lecture notes.
The Exhibition covers facts about megaliths, speculation on the purpose of megaliths and astronomical background. It also includes charts of alignments unearthed by Dr. Brennan over 20 years of study and his speculations on these.
He was keen to generate an appreciation of our megalithic heritage and to protect it for the enjoyment of future generations. It is hoped that this exhibition will help to foster such an awareness and appreciation and generate support for its continued conservation and protection.
