Chambers Ireland has named South Dublin County Council Local Authority of the Year 2006 at its annual Excellence in Local Government Awards.

 

The awards were presented at a ceremony in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin last night (09/11/06) in association with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

 

South Dublin County Council also won awards in three specialist categories:
• Social and Community Development for its traveller integration programme “Removing the Margins”;
• Environment for its energy efficiency initiatives and
• Best Planning Service

 

This is the third year of Chamber ’s awards in association with the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.  The awards aim to acknowledge and encourage innovation and best practice among ’s local authorities. 

 

The winners were presented with specially commissioned Waterford Crystal trophies.
