Comhairle na bPaisti Childrens Seminar
South Dublin County Council is holding a Comhairle na bPisti - Childrens Seminar on
7th November 2006 in Morans Red Cow Hotel.
The holding of the seminar will be the first action taken to substantially increase the number of schools participating in the Comhairle na ng structure. This consultation process is essential as it provides South Dublin County Council with the opportunity to engage with the young citizens of the county. Therefore, promoting active participation of children and young people within their local community.
Comhairle na bPisti will be a forum for children and young people aged between 8 -12 years and delegates will be selected through their schools to represent the voices of children in their local areas
By holding this seminar South Dublin County Council will join a small number of other local authorities that have specifically held seminars for the 8-12 aged group. In taking this initiative South Dublin County Council is setting a high standard in terms of the youth consultation process and ensuring that the first goal of the National Childrens Strategy that children will have a voice in matters which affect them and their views will be given due weight in accordance with their age and maturity is achieved within the county. The seminar provides local government policy makers with the opportunity to consult directly with children and thus demonstrates the councils policy of improving the quality of childrens lives in South County Dublin.
