Let The Magic Begin!

-Magic, Apple Bobbing, Fancy Dress, Spooky tales-

Hallowfest 2006 takes place this weekend, Sunday 29th & Bank holiday Monday 30th of October. The fun kicks off at 2pm with traditional games at South Dublin County Council offices Tallaght and ends with a guided walk to The Hell Fire Club with many events in between including a spectacular Fireworks display, fun and challenging walks for all the family and much more.

Many workshops and traditional games will be taking place throughout the day on Sunday. There will be a circus workshop, Make-n-do workshops, traditional Halloween games, face painters, balloon modellers and interactive street performers. The highlight of the day will be The Escape Act performed by circus artist Kenevil, where he will be suspended 20 meters in the air by crane. Kenevil will have to escape from his straight-jacket before the burning rope he is hanging by snaps! Not to be missed and not for the faint hearted.

The Fire works display will finish off the days activities on Sunday at 6.30pm. Peter Byrne of South Dublin Chamber, sponsor of the event said,South Dublin Chamber is pleased to be the inaugural sponsor of Hallowfest Fireworks display, which will be launched over South Dublin County from the Dublin Mountains. Halloween should be a family time of fun and enjoyment.  Unfortunately each year many children and adults are harmed through illegal fireworks and we hope our sponsorship will provide the enjoyment without the risks. Other sponsors include Rural Dublin LEADER, South Dublin County Council, Dublin Tourism and Coillte who all contributed to this amazing festival.

The Bank Holiday Monday activities will begin at The Hell Fire Club car-park for a walk on the spooky side. The walks will include Childrens Fun Treasure and Scavenger Hunt, Guided Family Nature Walk, Dublin Bog Trot for the more advanced adult walkers and the Hell Fire Club Walk to enjoy the breathtaking views of Dublin. All walks are supervised by professional guides and take place between 9.30am and 3pm.

There will be many other events taking place in various locations around South County Dublin from Sunday 29th through to Tuesday 31st such as: Grand final of the Noise Concert for upcoming rock bands in the Civic Theatre on Sunday 29th.
