Ryder Cup and Saggart Village

The Council wishes to respond to some adverse criticism in the media over the weekend concerning an opinion expressed that Saggart Village had lost an opportunity, with the Ryder Cup event taking place this week having regard to the role of the Citywest Golf and Hotel complex in hosting associated functions, to mark the occasion with flags and bunting.

The Council did give consideration to such a proposal. However, a decision was taken not to adorn the village in such a manner as this would only detract from the picturesque nature of this village and its natural and environmentally attractive vista.
