Proposed Temporary Closure of Main Street Rathfarnham Village, Dublin 16
To facilitate GMC Utilities Ireland to carry out essential works to water main connections, South Dublin County Council propose to temporarily close a section of the following road from Main Street Rathfarnham Village to Castle Court Main Street Rathfarnham from Monday 25th May to Friday 5th June 2026. The works will be undertaken over the following three phases as follows:
Phase 1:
Road Name: Entrance to Castle Court Estate, Main Street Rathfarnham.
Dates: Monday 25th May to Wednesday 27th May 2026.
Time of Closure: 8am to 12 midnight.
Phase 2:
Road Name: No. 36 – No. 38 Main Street, Rathfarnham.
Dates: Wednesday 27th May to Friday 29th May 2026.
Time of Closure: 8am to 12 midnight.
Phase 3:
Road Name: Main Street, Rathfarnham.
Works will be taking place on the east side of Main Street, one way traffic will be maintained beside these works.
Dates: Monday 1st June to Friday 5th June 2026.
Time of Closure: 8am to 12 midnight.
Detour Route: Traffic approaching the closure on Main Street will be diverted via Rathfarnham Road (R114) bypassing the closed section and rejoining Main Street beyond the works area. Traffic travelling in the opposite direction will follow the same diversion Route in reverse via Rathfarnham Road (R114).

Local access will be maintained at all times.

24hr emergency access to be maintained at all times.
Any person interested may lodge an observation/submission in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Planning and Transport, South Dublin County Council, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24 or by email to seoroads@sdublincoco.ie no later than 5.00 p.m. on Monday 11th May 2026.
