Area Committee Chair for Clondalkin, Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart and Brittas Area Committee., Councillor Shirley O’Hara officially opens the Knockmitten Park Recreation Area

 

 

On Monday 23rd June 2025 the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Shirley O’Hara officially opened the Knockmitten Park Recreation Area

 

Speaking at the event Cllr Shirley O’Hara said;

 

This area includes a new all-weather playing pitch facility as well as a half-court basketball area.

 

This project is in line with South Dublin County Councils aim to support and promote the health and wellbeing of the people of South Dublin County. Provision of artificial grass pitches allows for intensive sports use, to help accommodate some of the active recreational needs of our growing county.”

 

“I acknowledge the local community, who bore with us during the construction stage, and I would like to thank Knockmitten Football Club in particular, who were involved with this project from the planning stage through to completion on site.”

 

“I would also like to acknowledge the Department of Rural and Community Development for supporting the project under the Community Recognition Fund.”
