South Dublin County Council, as a Planning Authority has been advised by the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage that on8July2020,theSecretaryofStateforBusiness,EnergyandIndustrialStrategy,notiï¬edIrelandthatanapplicationfordevelopmentconsentwasreceivedfortheconstructionofanewnuclearpowerstationinSuffolk,England.PlanningauthoritiesinIrelandsubsequentlyfacilitatedanationwidetransboundaryEnvironmentalImpactAssessment(EIA)publicconsultation,asprovidedforunderthetermsoftheUnitedNationsEconomicCommissionforEurope(UNECE)ConventiononEnvironmentalImpactAssessmentinaTransboundaryContext(theEspooConvention).
On20ofJuly2022,inaccordancewithArticle6(2)oftheEspooConvention,thePlanningInspectorateUK,notiï¬ed theMinisterforHousing,LocalGovernmentandHeritageofthedecisiontakenbytheSecretaryofState,tograntaDevelopmentConsentOrderfortheSizewellCNuclearPowerStation,inSuffolk.
