In response to the impact COVID-19 continues to have on communities across the County, South Dublin has launched a new Community COVID 19 Resilience Fund.

This fund has been established to assist community and voluntary groups and organisations that are adapting their services and supports to communities affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. The funding will be directed to those group aiming to improve their local communities and to recover from the effects of Covid-19 and is part of the Council’s measures to support the national “Keep Well” Campaign.

Cllr. Ed. O’Brien, Mayor of South Dublin County Council has welcomed the Community COVID 19 Resilience Fund saying

“it is important that we continue to support local communities in these difficult times. The Community COVID 19 Resilience Fund will be a vital resource to help our communities fight back against the impacts of COVID – 19 and help build a more resilient society in the months ahead. We are now in Level 5 of the Governments Resilience and Recovery 2020-2021: Plan for Living with COVID-19 and it is essential we reach out to those most affected and ensure their needs are met. As Mayor, I am proud that South Dublin County Council is taking a leading role in the response to the challenges of living with COVID-19 and encourage you to avail of the funding that is being made available by the Council and to develop new and innovative ways to build community resilience”

Primarily, the Community COVID 19- Resilience Fund will provide support for the following (this is not an exhaustive list):

· new and innovative responses to service delivery impacted by COVID-19

· initiatives to mitigate the current and future impacts of COVID -19

· activities that help vulnerable people (the elderly, people with pre-existing medical conditions etc)

· ongoing needs of vulnerable people to ensure that their health and wellbeing is maintained

· adapting services delivered in the wider community
