Launch of Bealtaine Poetry readings from County Library

Mayor Therese Ridge on behalf of South Dublin County Council will officially launch ‘Seagulls’ an anthology of readings by Eileen Casey in County Library Tallaght on Wednesday 24th May at 7.30pm.
This anthology first appeared as part of a poetry installation shown at Tallaght Community Arts Centre in March last and will be travelling to Aras An Chontae, Tullamore for the month of June. Eileen is a poet, fiction writer and journalist. Her work has been widely published and she was short-listed for a Sunday Tribune Hennessy Award in 2004 for her poetry and again in 2005 for fiction. There will be a donation made to Concern from the sale of ‘Seagulls’.
Following readings from ‘Seagulls’,Maria Wallace will read from poems, which won the Sunday Tribune Hennessey Award for Emerging Poetry in 2005. Maria is from Catalonia but has now made her home in Tallaght. This is the first time the award has come to South Dublin County. Other poets included in the evening’s line up are Karyna McGlynn from Michigan, USA. who is the 2006 recipient of The Thomas Lynch Moveen Bursary Award and members of St. Colmcille’s Writer’s Group. The work of Marie Gahan, Pauline Brady, Maeve Edwards, Mary Maguire and Geraldine Mills has been published nationally and internationally.
