Deputy Mayor Karen Warren will present certificates in Ballyroan Library for the ‘Big Book Challenge’ on Thursday the 2nd March at 7pm..
This project was organised to mark World Book Day 2006 and its aim is to promote reading and to encourage children to join and use their local library.
Children aged between 8 and 12 years old were invited to read five books before the 21st February and to write a short review of each book. A selection of the reviews will be on display in Ballyroan Library during March. The aim of this project is to promote reading and to encourage children to join and use their local library. Over 200 children in total participated in the initiative .
Children will receive their certificate of achievement for their effort as part of World Book day celebrations and will also have an opportunity to enter a draw for a number of prizes on that evening and will receive a little goodie bag.
Similar projects have proved to be very successful in other Library Authorities and we hope that children and their parents will see it as a positive and exciting reading initiative.
