Mayor Robert Dowds on behalf of South Dublin County Council officially opens Ballyowen Castle Community Centre, Ballyowen, Lucan, Co.
This will be followed by an “Open Evening†from 7.00pm – 10.00pm when interested local groups will get an opportunity to view the premises.
The construction of Ballyowen Castle Community Centre was originally approved in June 2002 under planning permission granted by An Bord Pleanala (Register Reference S01A/0075) to Ballymore Properties Ltd. In 2003, the site for the proposed Centre was sold to Newlyn Developments Ltd. who constructed the Centre.
South Dublin County Council has entered into a long term Lease Agreement with Newlyn Developments Ltd. Ballyowen Castle Community Centre will be managed by a local Management Committee which will comprise of representatives of the user groups and a representative of the Community Services Department of South Dublin County Council.
It is considered that Ballyowen Castle Community Centre will provide a valuable asset to the local community and South Dublin County Council will provide comprehensive support and assistance in the operation of this Centre.
