ARTSBASE
Artsbase focuses on sustainable activity in the Arts and develops progression routes to further education, training and real employment in the Arts sector.
As part of Tallaght Probation Project it supports people to take their creative talents further over the course of a year.
Tallaght Probation Project facilitates people to maintain an offending free lifestyle and progress towards their personal, educational, training and employment goals. It is funded by the Probation and Welfare Service with support from FAS, County Dublin VEC and South Dublin County Council.
ARTSBASE
1) ARTSBASE: a launch pad for living
and working as a creative artist
2) ARTS: as an activity has always been a major part of
The Tallaght Probation Project
But……..
3) ARTSBASE: is about helping people to take it further – whether its Art, Music, Drama, Media Photography or Making Movies – to develop the
possibility of going to college or working in the Arts Sector
4) ARTSBASE: is a year long, part-time, programme that will nurture peoples creativity and help them progress into sustainable education/ activity in the Arts
5) ARTSBASE: focuses on sustainable activity that includes managing financially as an artist. There are very real opportunities for people to move on.
6) Students in Artsbase year 2004 – 2005 were offered places in Ballyfermot Art of Design and Killester Photography and were offered commissions in Portraiture and Commercial Photography in Arts, Music and Dance.
7) By the end of the Artsbase Course the students might:
· Move on to an entry level Arts course
· Eg
· Access and Arts Course support by VTOS
· Community Arts Training Course (NAYD)
· Work in Tallaght FM, Tallaght Echo or the Civic…
8) By the end of the Artsbase course the student might have a:
· Portfolio of Work
· FETAC Accreditation
· Exhibition and Public Performance
· Exploration of the options
· Progression Plan
· Possible Work experience
9) Nuts and Bolts
· Located on Fettercairn Farm, Monday – Thursday 2-6
· Starting on 2nd August 2005
· Groupwork and Keyworking
· All materials provided
TARGET group
· 18 plus
· Have been involved in Offending
· From Tallaght Area (or can realistically get to the course)
· Stable (on Methadone Prescription or Drug Free)
· Potential to manage a structure
· People who are ready to take a step
· Have an interest in the Arts or are creative. Broad approach: If a person is interested in Art, Music, and Drama. But also the Media, Film Studies, Fashion, Set Design, Graphics…. Or they have a lot of unfocused creativity/ability.
