Mayor Robert Dowds presented Certificates to Students who took part in the New Junior Estate Management Committee, Killinarden – 2nd June 2005, in County Library Tallaght

The project was the first project set out by the new Junior Estate Management Committee in Killinarden, which was formed earlier this year in conjunction with the South Dublin County Council’s Estate Officer, Emma Daly and the local schools in Killinarden.  It is a great step forward in Estate Management to have a group of young people from the area working so close together making an input in the running of their estate.  The group were very exited by their first project, who’s aim was to make fellow students / residents in the Killinarden area more aware of the work provided by the Council.  An independent artist, John Carpenter, was brought in to work with the children on their ideas and slogans which they transported onto art boards are now hanging on the school corridors of the Sacred Heart Primary School in Killinarden.  The group were congratulated on their tremendous efforts on Thursday 2nd June, in the Tallaght Library by the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Robert Dowds who presented them with their certificates.  The group are now putting their thoughts together for their next step in Estate Management and after the summer, training has been organising for them in Committee skills to help them with their work.
