“Mayor Robert Dowds proud of South Dublin County Council’s achievement in being placed in the top 50 companies in Ireland to receive an O2 Ability Awardâ€
South Dublin County Council has been placed in the top 50 companies in Ireland to receive an O2 Ability Award. These companies have been acknowledged and profiled as demonstrating best practice in the employment of people with disabilities and the launch of the programme this year marked a groundbreaking commitment to people with disabilities and recognizes the contribution they make to Irish business. The receipt of an award commends those businesses making a remarkable contribution to the changing culture of employment in Ireland, focuses on the positive and examines all aspects on employment including physical access, policies, procedures and attitudes.
Speaking following the announcement of the top 50 Mayor Dowds stated “ we are delighted to be rewarded and recognized for what we have achieved in this area, as a Council we understand the diversity and individuality of people’s needs and are committed to developing our services to enable others to achieve. We endeavour at all times to affect change in this area and enable people with disabilities to fully participate in the Local Authority Service and to maximise opportunities for their contribution to Public Services’
The O2 Awards ceremony will be televised on RTE 1 at 10.45 pm on Thursday 3rd February 2005
