“Oidhreacht-Our Heritage” Photographic Competition 2004

On Wednesday 15th September the Mayor of South Dublin County Council will launch the “Oidhreacht-Our Heritage” 2004 photographic exhibition and will present prizes to the competition winners at Ballyroan Library.

This annual competition, now in its fifth year, has attracted a substantially larger number of entries than in previous years with over 200 photographs from ninety entrants.

The aim of the competition is to promote the heritage of South Dublin County Council, while also allowing South Dublin County Council to build a photographic collection, which is relevant to the Council.

The word “heritage” is used in the broadest sense and this wide meaning of the term is reflected in the subject coverage of the entries from           buildings, historic, religious and commercial, mountains, rivers and canals, parks, people and streetscapes and wildlife in all its forms

The competition judges were Ms Orla Scannell, Arts Officer, South Dublin County Council, Mr Frank Miller, Press Photographer, Irish Times and Mr Sean Dwyer, Freelance Photographer
