Council tackles illegal dumping at Rehab Recycling sites at Lucan

Rehab was forced to close down and remove the Bottle Bank  at  its   recycling facility  at Tesco's Supermarket car park  site in Lucan on Monday, the 12th of July 2004, as persistent dumping was taking place at the site. They also had to remove the Drinks/ Cans Containers.

Two months earlier Rehab had to close down and remove the Bottle Bank at Eurospar's carpark site at Ballyowen, Lucan. - Again because of persistent dumping

The dumping usually consists of cardboard boxes and plastic bags but household rubbish

in black bags and White Goods have been left dumped at these sites also.

Litter Wardens endeavour to trace the offenders and have discovered evidence to support the issue of 3 fines for rubbish dumped at Tescos recently.

Two remaining Bottle Banks in the car parks of Superquinn and Finnstown Shopping Centres remain open and two new Bottle Banks have been opened recently, one in the carpark of the Running Track off the Newcastle Road and the other in Griffeen Valley Park car park off Hayden's Lane.

Increased surveillance of these locations and arrangements with Council Cleansing crews for

Weekly clean up operations are being planned at the present time.
