Summer Festival Week 12-18th July 2004

Summer is upon us and South West Clondalkin is hosting our first annual Summer Festival Event. The Dolcain Project has supported local people together with local groups to plan and organise a series of events for all our community. The festival wants to get people using their community facilities such as our local community centres and park.

The organising committee has been fundraising since early this year and Durkan Homes have kindly become our main sponsor with support from South Dublin County Council and Clondalkin Partnership.

This year’s events are being held in

Bawnogue Youth and Community Centre –(Opposite Church in Bawnogue)

Bawnogue Enterprise and Community Centre (New Centre In Bawnogue Opposite Shops)

St. Ronan’s Community Centre (beside Shops on St. Cuthbert’s Road)

St. Cuthbert’s Park (On St. Cuthbert’s Road)

Events range from Drum Wisdom Workshops for teenagers, Kite making for children, talent and art competitions to an outing and a traditional night  for over 55’s and a 5-aside football event.  Some events must be booked in advance and others you can just turn up.  Inside this edition there is a full programme and a description of each event.  Please take note of the event you are interested in and check further down if you need to book for it.  All bookings are taken on a first come first serve basis to ensure fairness.

We hope you and your family enjoy the events this year and perhaps if you would like to get involved let us know as we need support to ensure that this becomes an annual event.  The festival is endeavouring to create a sense of community locally, to reacquaint us with our local facilities and to have fun so enjoy!

The festival will be run over one week and has a series of events aimed at families and over 55’s. The idea of the festival is to get local families to use local facilities and thereby create a sense of community.

This festival is the first annual south west festival and is organised by local volunteers and community groups and supported by the Dolcain Project.

The festival’s main sponsor is Durkan Homes but funding has also been received from other agencies such as Clondalkin Partnership, South Dublin County Council and the gardai.
