Mayor Máire Ardagh, and Minister Martin Cullen, T.D. Dept of Environment, Heritage and Local Government will officially open first two phases of new housing scheme at Balgaddy, Lucan,
On Monday 24th May 2004 at 3.00 p.m.
These two phases, Balgaddy A and B are located on a site at the junction of Lynch’s Lane and Balgaddy Road, Lucan, and they provide the area with an outstanding landmark on a modest budget.
Balgaddy A (now known as Buirg an Ri), designed by Howley Harrington Architects, comprises a total of 84 local authority dwellings in a mix of one two, three and four bedroom units arranged in one, two and three storeys.
Balgaddy B (now known as Méile an Ri) designed by Murray O’Laoire Architects, consists of a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom dwellings, arranged in one, two and three storeys. This phase comprises a total of 68 social housing units - 44 local authority dwellings together with 24 dwellings which will be managed by Cara (Ireland) Housing Association, the Council’s Voluntary Housing Partners in this project.
Contracts for both schemes were awarded to Gama Construction (Ireland) Limited, the Irish Branch of the Turkish firm of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors. These contracts were their first housing project in Ireland.
