South Dublin County is Ten Years old and this year we are celebrating a decade of delivery of over 140 services to the public.
Since 1994 a transformation has taken place in terms of built infrastructure and community facilities that have been provided throughout South Dublin County.
Economic development and community initiatives have and will continue to bring about a better quality of life for all our residents and customers and this is a commitment that the Council gives for the next ten years and beyond, making the South Dublin County name synonymous with quality of life for all who live in this administrative area and high performance in the delivery of services and facilities.
The development of a clear image and identity for our County and the branding of South Dublin County has been targeted in the strategy of the County Identity Group of the County Development Board and recommended by the recent conference, which set up our new South Dublin County Tourist Board.
Identifying the South Dublin County name with major events planned during this celebratory year has also been targeted by the Council – from Carnivals and music events, competitions and community awards, sports, family days and intercultural events.
Two projects were unveiled this week to mark the Ten Year Celebrations and with the specific aim of promoting the image and identity of South Dublin County. One was “ A Decade of Delivery “ a photographic history of the development of our County since 1994 and the second was the publication of “ South Dublin County – Celebrating 10 Years, a 32 page magazine which will be circulated to all householders in the County.
The Photographic Exhibition represents every development from Community at local level to major infrastructure, a cross section of people and celebrations, photos taken at over 500 different locations and events throughout the ten years. It should interest all who live, work or enjoy the resources and facilities of our County. The exhibition will tour the County, from Rathcoole to Rathfarnham, from Palmerstown to the mountains, to give as many people as possible an opportunity to see how the County has developed to date. The exhibition will be available also as a multi media presentation on the Council’s website http://www.southdublin.ie/.
The Magazine publication “South Dublin County – Celebrating Ten Yearsâ€, will be delivered to all 78,000 households, will target schools from an educational viewpoint and will give a complete history of the development from the blank canvas in 1994 to the highlights and achievements of the present day.
