Mayor Máire Ardagh officially launches the

                     Bealtaine Exhibition- Celebrating Creativity in Older Age

                                  In County Hall,Tallaght on 6^th May at 11.30 am.

South Dublin arts office and libraries present a programme of literature and visual arts as part of the ninth annual Bealtaine festival, a month long nationwide festival celebrating creativity in older age, co-ordinated by Age an Opportunity. Bealtaine

events are offered at local, regional and national level. It marks a unique partnership between older people, national arts, education, and healthcare organisations, libraries and local authorities. The success of the festival is marked by the breath and

diversity of events and the high level of participation by older people as audiences, organizers and arts practitioners. The festival challenges issues of aging and creativity, drawing on the images of fire and renewal from pre-Christian Bealtaine.

In County Hall a Bealtaine visual arts exhibition featuring work from active retirement groups and older artists living in South Dublin County runs for three weeks from Tuesday 4th May to Friday 21st May. 

Also in County Hall, members of South Dublin Senior Citizens Club present Tallaght Past and Present – a ten minute digital film made by the members that focus’ on the folklore of five historical sites in the county.
