Payment of Bin Charges to South Dublin County Council

Since Wednesday 4th January, 3 new channels of communication were opened in order to facilitate and provide a more efficient method for our Customers to contact us regarding queries relating to their bin charges and to make payments.  This has proved extremely successful.

An additional email address refusecollection@sdublincoco.ie has been set up and to date 646 e-mails to this address have been received.

Another facility newly provided is a Text message facility on 086 1731707 ( Text Bin followed by space followed by your message ).  128 SMS messages have been received and have been dealt with to date.

The Environmental Services page on our website now helps customers to access information by using the facility “Frequently asked Questions”. This details all the information that customers require in a simple Question and Answer format. It also provides a facility for comments/ complaints.  65 ‘hits’ have been made to this facility.

Customers may also contact us by telephoning or calling to the Offices of the Council at County Hall Tallaght and Civic Centre Clondalkin to make cash, cheque or payment by Credit Card.

The number of telephone calls relating to Environmental Charge received on daily basis is approximately 1,700. It is estimated that daily callers to the Front Desk at County Hall and the Clondalkin Civic Centre number 600-650 approx.

To cope with the high volumes of business, additional staff have been assigned to telephones and counters to assist with the demands in this area. Obviously, the logistics of dealing with this number of enquiries is causing delays. The Council would like to assure Customers that we will deal with all enquiries within as short a time frame as possible, thank them for their patience and assure them that Staff will deal with their requests as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The Council is pleased that payments are still coming in on daily basis, and that the response of our customers in supporting the charges and the recycling initiatives have been so positive to date.

As you are aware the Collection figure stands at €14,401,978 from 2002 to date.
