South Dublin County Council will continue to provide a refuse collection service to all householders who have paid the refuse charges.
It is proposed to place the following advertisement in the papers to notify householders that the bin collection service will be withdrawn shortly in cases of non- payment. Restoration of service will cost €100
BIN COLLECTION – REMOVAL OF SERVICE FOR NON- PAYMENT
The Council wishes to advise that where Environmental Waste Charges have not been paid the Refuse Collection service will be withdrawn.
A fee of €100 will apply for restoration of the service.
Furthermore, any person who contravenes Bye Laws governing the storage presentation and collection of waste by leaving waste out for collection other than in the appropriate wheel bin is liable to a fine of up to €1,250.
We would like to thank the 76% of householders who have now paid or have been granted a waiver.
The following table illustrates the positive response this year from householders in South Dublin:-
Payments received January – October 2002 - €3.7 million
Payments received January – October 2003 - €7.0 milion
Leaflets giving prior notice of this proposed measure will be distributed in scheduled collection routes in future, in a number of cases the service has already been withdrawn.
The resulting protest by residents resulted in a temporary delay to the Collection Vehicles. The matter has now been resolved.
Residents should be aware that payment of IR£ 30 made by them when they received their bin covered delivery and associated costs. The Council reserves ownership of the bin at all times.
