Mayor Daly to launch Slà na Sláinte
Stepping towards a Happy Heart
in Corkagh Park Tuesday June 10th2003
“Walking is a fun way for people to get fit, and to stay fit, as part of a healthier lifestyleâ€.
Developed by the Irish Heart Foundation and South Dublin County Council, and supported by the local community, the Slà na Sláinte (“Path to Healthâ€) is an outgoing way to make walking for leisure and good health even more enjoyable.
Marked by colourful posts which are not numbered and which are situated at 1km intervals, walkers simply follow the Km signs, setting their own pace as they go. With physical inactivity being one of the main risk factors for heart disease, using a Slà na Sláinte walking route is an excellent way to accumulate 30 minutes of physical activity, on most days of the week.
The Corkagh Park Sli is a network of three colour coded, circular routes in varying lengths from 1.5km to 2.8km. All routes start near the entrance to the park; to follow a route, just look out for the colour coded signs along the way. Corkagh Park is the 1st location in the Ireland to adapt colour coded Sli routes. tcomber@irishheart.ie bdalton@irishheart.ie
