New Housing Extension at County Hall
The four storey, 20 million euro new building was officially opened on 29th April. The building comprises 7,000 sq m of office space, with improved conference and counter space accomodates the Housing, Architects, Parks and Development Departments.
Floor space of 1,500 sq m has been set aside to let out commercially to generate income and to meet future space accomodation requirements.
Housing's area is a huge improvement on the old area, with private booths and interview rooms for the comfort of both staff and customers alike. The building is wheelchair accessible and was opened to the public two months ago following and 18 month constuction period.
The ceremony began with a blessing by Bishop Eamon Walsh, Fr Ben Moran, Rev William Deverell and Rev Mary Hunter and then Hugh Hogan MC, introduced the speakers,Mayor Daly, Pat Smith Director of Housing and Brian Brennan County Architect.
All the speakers spoke of their pride in the organisation and the achievements the Council has made to date. The building marks a further step towards the modernisation and the improvement of South Dublin County Council 's services to the public.
