Minister Opens Voluntary Housing Projects At Sullivan’s Quay And Riverway

Mr. Noel Ahern, T.D., Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal today (28 March) officially opened two housing projects at Sullivan’s Quay and Riverway, Cork. The projects involve the acquisition of 14 two-bedroom apartments in total and were approved under his Department's Capital Loan Subsidy Scheme for voluntary housing projects.

The units were acquired by Sophia Housing Association, in partnership with Cork City Council. The combined cost was in excess of €2 million and the apartments will be used to enable families at risk to move on from emergency accommodation.

“The voluntary sector are playing a crucial role in dealing with the needs of the homeless and vulnerable in our society” the Minister said. These two projects are the first to be provided by Sophia and he congratulated them on their achievement.
