South Dublin Council adopts County Jobs Strategy 2014

At the council meeting on Monday 14th April, the elected members of South Dublin County Council formally adopted a county jobs strategy which sets out a wide range of initiatives aimed at job creation and retention. The strategy which is central to the council’s economic development role highlights the county’s edge of city accessible location and its existing diverse economy as strengths in attracting further job creation.

Mayor Dermot Looney stated that "the Strategy encapsulates the work of South Dublin County Council in terms of protecting and growing jobs in the local economy. There are more than 50 practical goals detailed in the Strategy, work on most of which has already begun. As Mayor, I am happy to promote a Strategy which puts the Council in the engine room of driving local employment opportunities."

County Manager Daniel Mc Loughlin emphasised the need for the “broadest possible collaboration between the council, the business community, education and enterprise agencies and our neighbouring local authorities if the full potential of these opportunities are to be realised “.
