More Start-ups, More Business and More Jobs – Locally in South Dublin County

Despite all the challenges, there is a lot of optimism out there. Business confidence is improving and existing businesses are thinking about expanding.

Lots of people around South Dublin County are wondering “why not go out on my own?”

To maintain that momentum, the Local Enterprise Office (LEO), South Dublin will be established on the 15th April, 2014 in County Hall, Tallaght and will be the ‘first stop shop’ for anyone who wants to start or expand their business and create jobs here in South Dublin County.

LEO South Dublin will be at the forefront of delivering business growth and jobs, providing direct support to everyone with a good business idea and strengthening the enterprise sector in the County. Help will be available to all, the very least that will be offered to a local entrepreneur is guidance to access information and appropriate supports.

The Local Enterprise Office will have the full backing of Enterprise Ireland to support business, foster innovation and drive exports. The LEO, South Dublin will provide direct linkages to other agencies who can advise on issues such as Revenue tax breaks for business finance, Social Protection supports for entrepreneurs, Microfinance Ireland loans and the Credit Review Office when your bank has said No, Skillets and the Education and Training Boards for business training skills - ensuring the best possible service to people who want to develop their business ideas.

Cllr, Dermot Looney, Mayor of South Dublin County Council added "I welcome the formation of the LEO as a one-stop shop for those seeking to set up new enterprises in the South Dublin County area. There are obvious synergies between the functions of the Council and businesses seeking to establish themselves here. As well as the formation of the LEO, this Council has shown its commitment to local jobs and enterprise by cutting rates, introducing business improvement grants and promoting retail support networks, amongst dozens of other actions."

County Manager, Daniel McLoughlin said “The bottom line is that when local people, with an idea that will generate local jobs, makes contact with their Local Enterprise Office they will get appropriate advice and support. Our aim here in the Local Enterprise office is to guarantee a high level of customer service focused on client support in the interests of promoting entrepreneurship and creating jobs.
