South Dublin County Council announces its 10th year of Eco Week 2014
Monday 31st March 2014 to Friday 4th April 2014
Mayor Cllr Dermot Looney and pupils from St Killian’s School, Kingswood today launched 2014 Eco-Week which takes place from 31st March to 4th April 2014. The children modelled some of the fabulous hats which will feature in the opening event on 31st March 2014. The hats were made from recyclable material as part of the ‘Alice in Litterland’ drama workshop.
The Mayor Dermot Looney said “I am delighted to launch the 10th Eco week in South Dublin County. There is a wide variety of workshops, talks, tours and events throughout the week – there is something for everyone. I urge people to get involved and discover new ways to connect with the environment - whether it’s taking part in a photo walk or learning about creating energy from wind”.
Events will take place in schools, libraries, community centres, and businesses throughout the week. From wind turbine energy workshops in the schools and libraries to biodiversity and gardening classes in the community centres. We are also delighted that this year The Square Tallaght has joined in with the launch of their Eco Car stations for electric cars and host of other promotions which are running throughout the week in the main foyer. IT Tallaght is promoting ‘Stop Food Waste’ all week.
The majority of the workshops are snapped up on the first day that booking opens, which this year is 24th March 2014 at 9.30 am. So put this date in your diary to avoid missing out.
