World Record Attempt In Tallght Saturday 7th September, 12-2pm.
Sports Grounds next to the Tallaght Leisure Centre, on Fortunestown Way.

Does anyone remember how to play "Bulldog's Charge?" How many old games have been forgotten? Anyone remember Pig-In-The-Middle? Or Stuck in the Mud? Or Plainy Clappy? Or have our children become too enamoured by Smartphones, Playstations and iPads?

As part of an artist's project at Rua Red, Anthony Schrag is exploring the meeting of the old and the new in Tallaght, and - like his Zombie Flash Mob last week - takes a fun look at how these two collide. The Zombie Flash Mob reanimated the myths of the Parthelonians who had settled in Tallaght 4000 years ago and all died of a plague within one week! It is where we get the word Tallaght from, which means "burial ground" in old Irish.

THis week, in an event that is less 'gruesome,' Schrag is organising a World Record Attempt for the largest game of Bulldog at the Sports Grounds next to the Tallaght Leisure Centre. The idea of the event is to find new stories for Tallaght, using the old game of "Bulldog."

The game is similar Red Rover, and sometimes called "British Bulldog" - it features a person - the 'capturer' in the middle and everyone else in a line at one side of the field. The goal is to run across the field without getting caught - if you do get caught, you then stand in the middle and also become a capturer to the folks running across! The winner is the last one caught - though, in this game, we'll all be winners if we set a world record! Mayor Looney has agreed to be the first 'capturer'!

Do you want to be part of history? Of making new and positive stories for Tallaght - then come down and join everyone at 12pm this saturday!
