The Story of Africa
an exhibition of selected images
at the
County Library, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24
Tuesday, 21 April until Saturday, 2 May, 2009
Mayor Marie Corr, South Dublin County Council, will officially launch The Story of Africa exhibition on Tuesday 21st April at 11am, at the County Library Tallaght, in the presence of the Ethiopian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Zerihun Retta Shumye. Following the official launch, author and storyteller Frances Somers Cocks will entertain children from local schools with her fascinating Ethiopian tales.
The Story of Africa exhibition is made up of selected images from the African continent. It begins from pre-history and focuses mainly on the area of North-east Africa (and Ethiopia in particular), otherwise known as the Cradle of Humankind.
Religion, Art, Literary (including materials for children and young people) & Coffee Culture are all featured.
This exhibition provides an introduction for anyone interested in Africa, or who has heard enough about the continent and would like an entry point into further knowledge of the place and its inhabitants.
The Library is open from 9.45 am to 8 pm (Monday - Thursday); 9.45 am to 4.30 pm (Friday and Saturday)
