Largest Photographic Event in Ireland to be launched by Mayor Marie Corr at the County Library in Tallaght on Tuesday 18th November 2008 at 8.00 PM
South Dublin County Council and South Dublin Libraries are delighted to host Tallaght Photographic Societys 18th International salon of photographic art on Tuesday 18th November in the County Library, County Hall, Tallaght. This is the 18th year of the salon and this year the salon has attracted the largest number of entries ever from a wide range of countries. The salon and exhibition will be launched by Mayor Marie Corr of South Dublin.
The event is held under the auspices of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and they award medals in each of the three sections: colour print, monochrome print and projected images.
This is the largest photographic event to be held in Ireland with 1,400 entries from over 350 photographers from 16 countries with entries from as far away as Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Canada, Argentina, U S A, Macau as well as from the Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The standard of photography was exceptional and the judges had a difficult job selecting the winners. In all a total of 80 prints and 187 projected images will be exhibited.
The exhibition of selected entries will run at The County Library from 18th November until 29th November during Library opening hours (Monday to Thursday 9.45am to 8.00pm, Fri and Sat 9.45am to 4.30pm. All are welcome and admission is free.
The event is supported by South Dublin County Council, Data Micrographics Ltd, Hewlett Packard, Paddy Power, Irish Photo News, Conn's Cameras, Camera Centre (Square Shopping Centre) Belgard Windows, and Camera Exchange.
