On Thursday 26th June 2008 at 6.30pm in County Hall, Tallaght, South Dublin County Council is hosting the graduation ceremony and the presentation of certificates to the Graduates from the 2007/2008 Spirt Teic and Sports Flexibility Programme.
Spirt Teic is a FS Local Training Initiative, sponsored by South Dublin County Council, which annually provides training and qualifications in Fitness Instruction, Sports Coaching & Recreational Leadership to young people from the South Dublin County area.
The success of Spirt Teic over the years has led to a new venture between FS and South Dublin County Council called the Sports Flexibility Programme. This Programme commenced on 28th May 2007 and is aimed at early school leavers, providing them with an introduction to sports, health and leisure activities and facilitates them in progressing to a higher level within that industry. The Sports Flexibility Programme introduces these trainees to the discipline of attending a full time course and gives them the confidence to progress their education.
Sports Flexibility is also a FS Local Training Initiative, sponsored by South Dublin County Council. Both Programmes are located in the new Tallaght Leisure Centre which is ideally equipped to provide the high standard of facilities required.
On Thursday 26th June, 24 Graduates from the 2007/2008 Spirt Teic Programme will be awarded a wide variety of diplomas and certificates ranging from aerobics and gym instruction to water safety, soccer, GAA football and hurling, basketball and rugby. The 14 Graduates from the first Sports Flexibility Programme will also be presented with their various sports certificates.
Over the Summer months FS will be recruiting for the 2008/2009 Spirt Teic and Sports Flexibility Programmes which will commence in September 2008.
