St Bridgets GNS raises its third green flag

St. Brigids NS Palmerstown, raised its third Green Flag for Water on Friday 20th June 2008. This school is also one of two schools in South Dublin County that successfully took part in the pilot of the Green Home Programme. This is another great achievement for St. Brigids National School.
Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County Cllr Gus OConnell attended the flag raising ceremony and he congratulated the staff, pupils, board of management and parents association at St Brigids NS saying It is amazing that you have achieved so much, even during the move to the prefabs, while your classrooms are awaiting refurbishment. I have heard all about your hard work over the past six years and the activities you do here such as saving energy and water not to mention composting, recycling and litter picking
St. Brigids NS Green Schools Committee comprised of parents, pupils, the principal Ms. Noeleen Conboy caretaker Mr. Hunt and the Green Schools Coordinator Mrs. Nora McKevitt.
Green Schools is an International Environmental Education Programme that promotes and acknowledges whole school, long-term action for the environment. At present over 2,700 Irish schools are participating in the programme and over 1116 have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award. There are currently over 14,500 schools in 37 countries taking part in the Programme internationally.
