Clondalkin Sports and Leisure Centre will be officially opened on Wednesday, 18th June, 2008 at 12.30pm, by the Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr. Derek Keating, in the presence of the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Mr. Martin Cullen, T.D.

Clondalkin Sports and Leisure Centre incorporates a new 25 metre, 8 lane swimming pool with moveable floor to allow greater access and flexibility. This modern facility includes a changing village with family cubicles, special needs changing rooms and group changing rooms. Upstairs is a fully air conditioned gymnasium with the most modern up to date equipment. The Centre boasts a new room for spin and circuit fitness classes and an aerobic room that overlooks the swimming pool. This facility also houses a cafe with a viewing area of the pool.

The Sports and Leisure Centre, which is managed by South County Dublin Leisure Services Limited on behalf of South Dublin County Council, opened its doors to the public in December 2007. The Centre has a wide range of activities including leisure swims, swimming lessons, active age swimming, adult and toddler swims, specialist pool activities such as aquafit, canoeing, sub aqua, training for competitive swimming and lifesaving. The gym has a wide range of classes to suit all levels of fitness, e.g aerobics, spin, body conditioning, circuit training and lots more. The large sports hall caters for indoor sports such as basketball, badminton, gymnastics, rock climbing, archery and indoor games for younger groups.

Outside there are 4 All Weather Pitches and a playground. Clondalkin Sports and Leisure Centre was constructed at a cost of 12.7m, 3.8m of which was grant aided by the Department of Arts, Sports & Tourism and the balance funded by South Dublin County Council. The project, which was promoted by the Community Services Department of the Council, was managed by the Architects Department of South Dublin County Council, in particular Eddie Conroy, County Architect and Maire O Sullivan, Senior Architect and constructed by P J Walls Ltd.
