Enovation wins Open Source Project of the Year at
the ICT Excellence Awards 2008
Dublin, Ireland (Tuesday 06th May 2008) Enovation Solutions picked up the Open Source Project of the Year award at the ICT Excellence awards in UCD last Thursday night.
The subject of the submission was South Dublin County Councils Connect School initiative, which is about developing student-centered technology in order to improve school attendance, participation in class and educational outcomes for the students at St. Aidans Community School in Tallaght. As part of the project Enovation implemented, the open source learning management system, Moodle in the school.
Enovation Solutions won the award because, as service providers with particular expertise in the Moodle, they were able to make the technology work for St. Aidans. Enovation installed features and functionality to suit their individual needs. They also provided St. Aidans with ticket-based technical support and hosting services and continue to provide training and consultancy on the project.
St Aidans is delighted to be involved in this pioneering project. The days of chalk and talk as the main teaching method in the classroom are limited. Teachers in St Aidans now use the latest technology and are as up to speed as their students with technology. There are benefits for students and teachers better student participation in class and less staff turnover.
