South Dublin County Council Connect iWalk Launch

Deputy Mayor Gus OConnell launched the first public park iWalk today, Wednesday 7th May, 2008 at the Visitor Centre, Corkagh Park, Clondalkin.

This is the first in a series of exciting Connect iWalks for South Dublin County now available. These audio and video podcasts, will be available for download to MP3 players or iPods. The podcast contains information on the amenities of the park, its history and places of interest. It combines the best of new technology with the stories and history of the park. This is available to everyone and when loaded onto your iPod or Mp3 player, will offer a walking commentary as users follow a specified route through the parks.

Deputy Mayor Gus OConnell congratulated all those involved in the production and said this provides the best of the old and the new He was glad the history of the park would be available to everyone and also a commentary on all the new features of the park. I am delighted to be here for the launch of this initiative and glad to hear that there are two more almost ready Dodder Valley Park and Griffeen Park iwalks.

Corkagh Park is one of the most important treasures in South Dublin, with its 300 acres immediately adjacent to theNaas Road and stretching almost a mile to the village of Clondalkin.

Visitors to the Park can enjoy the arboretum, playground, rose garden, putt and take fisheries and many different sporting facilities as well as historical buildings.
