GREENHILLS ROAD
QUALITY BUS CORRIDOR SCHEME
Pursuant to the requirements of the above, notice is hereby given of the proposal to provide the following scheme: Greenhills Road Quality Bus Corridor – Mayberry Road junction to Calmount Road junction.
The Greenhills Road Quality Bus Corridor forms part of the QBC Network linking Tallaght town centre to the city centre and it will also join the South Clondalkin QBC at the Walkinstown Road/Long Mile Road junction. The scheme consists of approximately 1955 m of QBC in the northbound direction (to city centre) and 2170 m of QBC in the southbound direction (to Tallaght). These bus lanes will be implemented as part of the Re-alignment at Parkview and the Ballymount Reconfiguration. The sections of bus lane are proposed as follows:
Parkview Bypass
· Northbound: 570 m of bus lane from the tie-in to the Greenhills Road 158 m north of Mayberry Road Junction to the Greenhills Road bridge over the M50.
· Southbound: 360 m of bus lane from the Greenhills Road bridge over the M50 to the tie-in with Greenhills Road 140 m north of the Mayberry Road junction.
Ballymount Re-configuration
· Northbound: 1385 m of bus lane from the Greenhills Road Bridge over the M50 to the Calmount Road tie-in with Greenhills Road, via Ballymount Avenue.
· Southbound: 1810 m of bus lane from the Calmount Road tie-in with Greenhills Road to the Greenhills Road Bridge over the M50, via Ballymount Avenue.
The Scheme has the potential to provide considerable benefits for public transport users on the route as follows:
· There will be significant time savings for a large number of bus passengers.
· As the number of general traffic lanes remains unchanged, there will be no significant impact on journey times for general traffic.
· There will be no negative impact on cyclists.
· It will link Tallaght town centre to the city centre and it will also join the South Clondalkin QBC at the Walkinstown Road/Long Mile Road junction.
Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection at:
