Mayor Eamonn Maloney on behalf of the Members of South Dublin County Council will present prizes to the winning participants of the Tallaght Drugs Task Force Schools Poster/Poetry Competition in County Hall Tallaght on Thursday 26th April at 12 noon.

The theme of this year's competition is 'A Healthy Decision I Made'. This is the 3rd year that the competition has been run and it is alternated each year from the formal (school) sector to the informal (community) sector.

The aim of the poster competition is to raise awareness of social and personal skills required by the children and young people to prevent substance misuse and abuse in the Tallaght Task Force community. Rather than focus on drug use/misuse the entrants are asked to convey an anti-drugs message in the context of a healthy decision they made. The criteria for winning took into account the themes and skills portrayed in the Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) Programme at post-primary level and the Walk Tall Programme at primary level.

The competition is funded by Tallaght Local Drugs Task Force and run by the Tallaght Drugs Education and Prevention sub-group of Tallaght Local Drugs Task Force.
