SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
(Naas Rd / Monastery Road Temporary Bridge)
PUBLIC NOTICE
South Dublin County Council regret that removal of the Temporary Pedestrian Bridge linking both sides of the N7 (Naas Road) at the Monastery Road Junction was necessitated by the extensive works and construction of the new M50/N7 (Red Cow) Interchange as part of the M50 Upgrade Scheme. Following the removal of the Temporary Bridge pedestrians & cyclists will have to use the existing signalized Pedestrian Crossing that was in place on the N7 (Naas Road) prior to installation of the Temporary Bridge.
To improve driver’s compliance at this Pedestrian Crossing high-intensity double traffic signals will be installed along with traffic-signal advance-warning signs. Also, the outbound crossing will be moved such as to provide extra stopping distance for drivers approaching the Pedestrian Crossing.
The M50 Upgrade Scheme includes the provision a new Permanent Bridge linking Monastery Rd with the Luas Park and Ride Facility. This Bridge, which will cater for vehicular and pedestrian/cyclist movements, will be constructed as part of the M50 Upgrade Contract 1 currently under construction and is due for completion in early 2008.
Pedestrians and cyclists are urged to exercise extreme caution and be extra vigilant when using the Pedestrian Crossing.
