M50 Upgrade Project

N4 Interchange

The new free-flow slip road at the N4 interchange will open tomorrow, 17th January 2007. This slip road leading from N4 eastbound (i.e. coming from Leixlip and the west) will allow motorists to turn left to go northbound onto the M50 towards the Toll Bridge, without having to go through traffic lights.

Traffic travelling West on the N4 to M50 North (Toll Bridge) will follow the Diversion 1 route shown in purple.

Later in January a further traffic management phase will involve the removal of traffic signals on the Western (Lucan) side of the N4 roundabout. This will result in considerable benefits to eastbound traffic. In parallel with this, the M50 northbound traffic heading towards the City Centre on the N4 will follow the Diversion 2 route shown in green.

M50 Mainline

Works are ongoing in the median from the Toll Bridge to just north of the Tallaght Interchange. By Easter the median road works will be completed and traffic will be moved on to the newly constructed lanes and works in both verges will begin.

Ballymount Interchange

Work is well underway for construction of the second bridge, and the south east free flow ramp and the south west free flow ramp will open to traffic by Easter 2007.

N7 Interchange

Work will be continuing during 2007 on the construction of the new N7 Interchange. New slip roads and link roads will be constructed and work will commence on the new bridge across the N7 Naas road linking Monastery Road with a new roundabout at the LUAS Park and Ride facility, which will cater for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Traffic management detai8ls are available from the project website www.m50.ie and major changes will be announced in advance on the national and local media.
