Christmas 2006 & New Year Arrangements

Refuse Service 

 

The refuse collection service in South Dublin County will operate as usual over the Christmas/New Year period except for the following dates:

  • Collections due on Monday 25th December 2006 will take place on Saturday 23rd December.  
  • Collections due on Tuesday 26th December will take place on Saturday 30th December.  
  • Collections due on Monday 1st January will take place on Saturday 6th January.  

Existing Purple Bin Label will continue to be valid in 2007
 

Householders should note that the purple bin authorisation label which bears the date Jan-07 will continue to be effective throughout the full year 2007. 

Green Bins

Additional dry recyclable material may be left beside the Green Bin from 18th December to 27th January 2007 only provided 

  • It is clean and bound securely 
  • It is left in a safe manner for collection  
  • It contains material that normally goes into the Green Bin only.  

The material should not be put in a plastic bag.  Large cardboard boxes and sheets of cardboard should be cut into smaller pieces or brought to the nearest Civic Amenity Centre.

 

Civic Amenity and Recycling Centre 

South Dublin County Council’s Civic Amenity Facility at Ballymount will be closed on Christmas Day, St. Stephens Day and New Year’s Day.

Christmas trees(Organic trees only-no artificial trees) 
 

South Dublin County Council is introducing a pilot scheme for the recycling of Christmas trees from households in urban areas.  From Monday 8th January to Friday 12th January householders may place their Christmas tree outside their house on the morning of the refuse bin collection. The Council’s Parks Department will collect the tree on the day, though not necessarily at the same time as the bin collection.
